DHARAMSHALA: In big surprise to the people of Kandbadi village in Palampur religion of Himachal Pradesh, the superstar turned politician Rajinikanth (67) was spotted here in a meditation center of the region. The visit was a kept secret and was not disclosed to anyone, media was kept away from this.
Tamil superstar who has recently joined politics reached here to undergo some meditation practices. Former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal was also there at the meditation center – ‘Mahavtar Baba Ashram’. The place is located in a remote village located away from tizzy of the town near Baijnath.
Well placed sources told that Rajinikanth had arrived at Kangra airport in Air India flight on Saturday noon.
“It is his personal visit” said an aide accompanying the cinema star. The star had announced to launch a political party and contest all 234 assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu in the next elections due in 2021.
When contacted, even PK Dhumal too refused to comment on this. But insiders at the meditation center told that Rajinikanth was very humble during interaction with the staff.
The mediation center was visited by many politicians of the region. Dhumal was known to be a staunch follower of a saint Amarjyoti who heads this institute.
The place is located amid hills and streams around. A mediation hall is also there in it. Meditation practitioners of this institute told that this was one of the best places to meditate in the region.
Though, no information about the visit was being revealed, sources said that he might stay for at least 10 days ahead.
Due to the presence of the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama many people use to visit this place for their spiritual quest. This whole region has become a Buddhist pilgrimage place.
With the passage of the time, now many meditation centers have come up in and around the Kangra valley. People come here to attain metal wellness through meditation and Yoga practices.
It was before the assembly elections in Punjab that chief of Aam Admi Party, Arvind Kejriwal too visited a place Dharamkot in the region. He also underwent meditation practices in the center disconnecting himself from outer world.
