Well we all know that much the makers of the film Udta Punjab has gone through in the last days because of the controversy made on their film. The censor board made an allegations on the film and told the producers to cut some scenes, Anurag Kashyap than knocked at the court claiming that he has made film on the issue of Drug Abuse which is destroying the state of Punjab.
The final verdict of the court has arrived which directs the makers to cut that scene in which Shahid Kapoor is been shown urinating and the remaining scenes on which the board has made the allegations has been cleared by the court so the cast and crew of the film Udta Punjab has welcomed the decision with open hands.
After the verdict of the court the Censor chief Pahlaj Nihlani says,
“We had requested the producers of Udta Punjab to tone down the abuses. No one speaks as filthily as Shahid Kapoor is shown speaking in the film.”
The honourable court says,
“We do not find the film questions sovereignty or integrity of India by the names of cities, reference to state or by a signpost.”
The court has also said that it did not find any clue from the film that it is been made to make any impact on the upcoming elections in the state of Punjab. The court has also said that the makers can stick to the title of Udta Punjab. So now this multi starrer film will release on its time on 17 June 2016. In this film Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are playing the main roles.
After the decision the producer got super excited and he expressed his joy by saying that,
“This is a big day for not just us, the makers of Udta Punjab but the entire film industry. We’ve been told by the honourable court that freedom of expression is not to be frowned at.”
Director Abhishek Chaubey’s views regarding this decision was,
“Massively relieved today, looking to release the film on the scheduled date”.
